Coalition of U.S. Organizations Urges UN Security Council to Impose Arms
Embargo on Sudan
A coalition of 17 U.S. organizations recently came together to write all 15
members of the United Nations Security Council urging them to use their upcoming
meeting in Nairobi on November 18-19 to adopt a Resolution that would protect
civilians, enforce a no-fly zone over the Darfur region, and impose a complete
arms embargo on Sudan.

Security Council to renew Resolution 1487. Resolution 1487 (2003), itself
a renewal of Resolution 1422 (2002), exempted from the ICC's jursidiction all
current and former officials and personnel from non-ICC countries (like the
U.S.) serving in UN missions. It expires June 30, 2004.
