This bill would help to facilitate the establishment of a United Nations civilian police corps for international peace operations to maintain the rule of law and promote peace and stability in post conflict situations.

This bill would:

  • Establish a UN civilian police corps for international peace operations to maintain the rule of law and promote peace and stability in post-conflict situations.

  • Call on the President to support negotiations in the UN aimed at creating a UN civilian policing corps.

  • Request the UN Secretariat to produce an outline of how CIVPOL would work

  • Create standards of behavior and procedure for CIVPOL

  • Propose that forces are rapidly deployable

  • Propose that CIVPOL consists of an appropriate number of professionally trained police officers

  • Call for CIVPOL to be managed by UN Civilian Police Division at UN headquarters in NY
