• Condemns the Iranian government for
defying their international nuclear nonproliferation obligations.
• Under the Treaty of
Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, Iran is obligated to the following: not to receive the transfer from any transfer whatsoever of nuclear
weapons or other nuclear explosive devices or of control over such weapons
or explosive devices directly, or indirectly; not to manufacture or
otherwise acquire nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosive devices; and
not to seek or receive any assistance in the manufacture of nuclear weapons
or other nuclear explosive devices.
• As a result of Iran’s failure to comply
with the international community’s request, this resolution proposes that
the UN Security Council, the Russian Federation, and the People’s Republic
of China respond efficiently in order to maintain international peace and
security.
