Over the years, the United States has been a leader and team player in the protection of the global environment for our children. Sadly, our leaders have turned away from working with other countries in recent years, declining to join a number of important environmental treaties and undermining global environmental institutions. Citizens for Global Solutions is taking the lead in a critical, new initiative to restore U.S. engagement and teamwork in the protection of the global environment.

The Earth Legacy campaign was launched in June 2004 in San Francisco, with the public unveiling of a declaration in support of U.S. leadership on the global environment signed by luminaries from the foreign policy and environmental fields.  Also launched was a new website, http://www.earthlegacy.org.  As a member of the Steering Committee of the Earth Legacy campaign, we are joining with leading environmental organizations to ensure our country's re-engagement in making our world a healthier place. We will be pooling our resources to increase the visibility of global environmental issues in the upcoming national debate about the future of our nation. We will encourage and promote constructive U.S. engagement with other nations in the preservation of our planet's environment.
