Infectious disease is a challenge that knows no national borders or boundaries.
Global pandemics like HIV/AIDS and SARS are blind killers, regardless of race,
nation or gender. International organizations and close cooperation are critical
to stopping the spread of disease and helping find cures.
Recently, a
potential SARS epidemic was halted in its tracks because of swift action by the
World Health Organization. The
Global Fund to Fight
AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria was created as an innovative a partnership
between governments, civil society, the private sector and affected communities
to dramatically increase resources to fight three of the world's most
devastating diseases.
No country is an island when it comes to global health challenges. Our
survival depends on working together to face these threats. Citizens for Global
Solutions works to educate Americans about the important role that international
laws and institutions play in safeguarding our health and combating deadly
diseases.
