10 things YOU Can Do For Darfur
______________________

1. Educate Yourself

2. Educate Others

  • Once you've learned about Darfur, talk to your friends, family and neighbors about why they should care about Darfur.

  • Show a PowerPoint presentation about Darfur to your friends, family or faith community, or create your own multimedia approach to raise awareness about Darfur.

3. Lobby Congress

  • Find out how your Member of Congress voted on Darfur legislation at DarfurScores.org.

  • Use Citizens for Global Solutions' recommendations on our Darfur Resource Center as talking points when you call or write your representative.  Make your call or letter as personal as possible -- a personal, handwritten note goes a long way! -- and clearly state your concern and how you think the U.S. should engage the international community on Darfur.

Call the Capitol switchboard: (202) 224-3121

           Write your Senator:
                  Office of Senator (Name)
                  United States Senate
                  Washington, D.C. 20510

           Write your Representative:
                  Office of Representative (Name)
                  United States House of Representatives
                  Washington, D.C. 20515

  • Sample letter to Congress -- write your own using similar language and talking points.

4. Send a Message to President Bush

  • Tell President Bush that you care about the genocide in Darfur and ask him to take more aggressive action to support the deployment of a U.N. peacekeeping force.

  • Tell President Bush that you want him to actively support the Darfur case and investigation at the ICC, including the release of all relevant information to help indict war criminals.

  • Tell President Bush to specifically work with Arab leaders to press the Government of Sudan to allow U.N. peacekeepers in Darfur.
